The Miracle Working Nail Varnish

Barry M Super Mani Nail Polish

Hi everyone,

Today I thought I would share with you what I would consider to be a 'miracle' working nail varnish!

If you read my 2017 Goals blog post (shameless plug, read here), you would know that one of my goals this year is to grow my nails to be long and healthy. I've been on the look out for a good nail treatment for a while now, so when I saw the Barry M Super Man 7 in 1 Nail Treatment in Superdrug, about a month ago, I was instantly drawn to it having 7 in 1 benefits, which also conveniently acts a base coat, as I'm anything for an easier/simpler life!

Barry M Super Mani Nail Polish

The Barry M Super Mani is a 7 in 1 nail treatment that hydrates, strengths and generally improves the overall appearance of your nails. This product instructs that you use it twice at week as either a base coat or as a standalone product. I find that most nail treatments can have a horrible taste, so as a self-confessed nail bitter, I am always put off by those, even though they do help in helping me break the habit! I have  noticed a huge difference in not just the appearance of my nails, but also the strength and quality of them after using this product. They feel more hydrated and strengthened, due to the Vitamin E in this, which helps to protect nails from breakage.

At only £3.99, I am really impressed with this nail treatment as I have definitely seen improvements in the health and look of my nails already. I really find that this product is a great base coat for underneath any nail varnish, and I love the thought of it nourishing my nails at the same time.

High End VS Drugstore Night Repair Serum

Estee Lauder Advanced night repair Synchronised Recovery Complex II serum and Argan Oil night repair serum

 Hi everyone!

Today I thought I would compare a high end and a drugstore night repair serum for you. I would personally consider the Argan Oil night repair serum to be a dupe for the Estee Lauder Advanced night repair Synchronised Recovery Complex II serum, as they are very similar in my opinion. The Estee Lauder serum retails at around £52, whereas the Argan Oil is only £1.99 (from cheap drugstore shops like Poundland or Savers).

Both of these night serums come in a similar, dark amber colour plastic bottle and both contain a dropper to hygienically dispense the product. In terms of the difference in formula, the Estee Lauder serum has a light silky texture, with the serum being light brown in colour. The Argan Oil serum has a white, creamy consistency and does leave my skin feeling tacky initially after application, but for less than £2 for a pretty good night serum, I'm not complaining!

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronised Recovery Complex II Serum:

The Estee Lauder advanced night repair serum is such a luxurious product that sinks quickly into my skin, without leaving my skin feeling greasy or tacky. As I have sensitive skin, I love that is suitable for all skin types as it doesn't irritate my skin at all, which I was pleasantly surprised about. This gives my skin and instant smooth and glowing appearance to it, and makes my skin feel really soft when I wake up in the morning. I love using this as part of my evening skincare routine, especially on those evenings were I want to give myself an extra little pamper and boost!
I would recommend picking up a sample of this product if you're interested in trying it, before purchasing the full bottle as it is an expensive product, so it is best to check that it works for you and suits your skin beforehand.

Argan Oil Night Repair Serum:

The Argan Oil Night Repair Serum is said to "aid in boosting your skins natural ability to bounce back from all the daily stresses, humidity and pollution your skin is faced with everyday".

I have been loving using this product everyday as part of my skincare regime, before I apply my moisturiser. I think the smell is similar to the Argan Oil hair products, but once applied my skin definitely feels a lot more moisturised than usual. I think for this price of this, it's a great little staple to have in your skincare regime, especially for someone who is on a budget #studentlife!

The Missing book:
As a Psychology student, I am a sucker for a good psychological thriller! I have been loving reading this book over the Christmas holidays! It is so captivating, I found myself struggling to put it down! If you follow me on Twitter (shameless plug: @ VLBeautyx) you will probabaly know how addicted I was to Season 2 of 'The Missing' which was on BBC1 last month. I found that so gripping and I am led to believe that this is the book for Season 1 of that drama, so I can't wait to watch to Season 1 after I have finished this book!

M.A.C Cosmetics Lipstick in the shade 'Whirl':
I treated myself to this when I braved the Trafford Centre on Boxing Day, with some of the Christmas money that I was kindly gifted. I have been after this shade for quite some time now and I am not disappointed in the slightest! I have worn this twice already and I am so in love with it! 'Whirl' is described as a dirty rose with a matte finish, although I would say the finish is a lot more creamy and hydrating that some other matte lipsticks I own.

DUO waterproof clear eyelash glue-
Over this past year, I have started wearing fake eyelashes for special occasions such as a night out. I usually just used the glue that came with the eyelashes in the packet but this month, I decided it was about time I bought a more reliable eyelash glue, as I noticed they didn't always stay on all evening. I heard Gabbie (YT channel) raving about the DUO Striplash eyelash glue (link here) and I was surprised at how inexpensive it was. I decided to try it out for myself, and needless to say I've been very impressed! I opted for the clear glue which also claims to be waterproof. I have found that this lash glue keeps my lashes firmly in place and also doesn't damage the lashes! I fully recommend this lash glue.

Kim Kardashian Perfume:
I have had this perfume for a number a years now but I have to say, I never really took to it. It has a very strong floral scent which I think my younger self was put off by. However, I have worn this perfume all across the festive period and felt 'put together' by finishing off getting ready by spritzing a bit of this onto myself. I find that this perfume lasts all throughout the day/evening and as it is so rich and striking, i have received a lot of compliments about this perfume! This has now become my go-to night-out/evening perfume.

Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette and Gel:
I kindly received both of these off 'Santa' for Christmas which I was very happy about as I have wanted to try these for a long time now! I have most of the Real Technique brushes so it is so exciting to be able to clean my brushes with the 'proper equipment'!! I find using the cleansing palette so helpful when cleaning my brushes, even if I just use baby shampoo, instead of the cleansing gel, as the palette has different textures and surfaces for an enhanced, deep clean! This definitely makes cleaning my makeup brushes less of a chore.

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas and I wish you all the best for 2017!
