July Favourites

July Favourites Flatlay

I can't get over the fact it's nearly August! It's less than a two month countdown to my birthday! It's safe to say I always get a little giddy this time of year. I have been using and loving a lot of different things this month so I thought I would share them with you.

St Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower (Medium)

St Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower
I picked this up a few months ago from Boots after I got back from my holiday in Greece (see post here). I wanted to try this out to prolong my tanned skin. I was instantly impressed by how easy this was to use- I simply wash myself with this in the shower and leave it for 3 minutes and then rinse it off. I also love how this doesn't make me smell like digestives biscuits, like a lot of fake tans do!! This just gives me a little bit of a glow without the hassle of fake tanning.

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

This is one of the books I purchased from Zoella's book club with WHSmith. I was immediately drawn to this book as it is described as "an exhilarating and heart-wrenching love story about a girl who learns to live from a boy who intends to die". I found it so difficult to put this book down as it is so compelling. This book contains various issues such as anxiety and depression, and I think these issues have been portrayed really well in this book.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt & Contour Kit
Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt and Contour Kit
I did a review on this product last month actually (see here) but I have to include it in this months favourites as I have been using it pretty much everyday! I've been back and to to uni this month, working on a summer school project. This meant that I was often packing a small bag to take with me whilst I was there. As I mentioned in my review of this, this product is so great for travelling as it is so compact and contains 3 in 1 makeup products. This made my life so much easier when I was packing up my makeup, as instead of packing a bronzer, blusher and highlighter, I just reached for this instead! I am obsessed with the blusher in this as it's such a beautiful shimmery pink.

Botanics Micellar 3 in 1 All Bright Cleansing Solution

Botanics Micellar 3 in 1 All Bright Cleansing Solution

I love trying out and using new makeup removers and I am a massive fan of micellar waters, especially the Garnier one (see review here), so when I saw this as a free gift in Boots on O2 priority I was made up!
I love how this promises to brighten up your skin and unclog your pores, as well as removing makeup. This is really good at removing my makeup easily, and leaving my skin feeling clean and smooth. I would say however, don't fully rely on this as I have woken up a few times with raccoon eyes, so it clearly doesn't remove ALL my eye makeup.

eBay Fan Brush
eBay Fan brusheBay Fan Brush

I ordered this fan brush from eBay (link) a couple of weeks ago, as I wanted one like this to apply highlighter. The bristles on this brush are so soft and the shape of the brush is perfect for applying highlighter or bronzer. I love eBay makeup brushes ever since I found five great brushes for only £1.51 (see review here). I really recommend this brush for contouring or highlighting.

The 'Candy K' Dupe

Sleek Matte Me Lipstick in Birthday Suit

I have recently fallen in love with matte lips, especially nude colours. I wanted to pick up the Sleek Matte Me Lipstick in 'Birthday Suit' as I'd heard it was a dupe for Kylie Jenner's 'Candy K' lip kit, as it is a nude pink. I picked this up a couple of weeks ago from Superdrug for £4.99.
The formula for this matte lipstick is one of my favourites as it doesn't crumble or flake off my lips (providing I apply a lip balm beforehand). I find that it dries completely matte after around 30 seconds, and stays on my lips virtually all day! I don't find this lipstick uncomfortable to wear, which is rare for me as usually I can find some matte lipsticks extremely drying and heavy on my lips.
I love the packaging of the Sleek Matte Me lipsticks, especially the matte black cap that bears the brand name. The lipsticks come with a doe foot applicator, which I love for an easy application.
Over the past few weeks, I have found myself reaching for this lipstick a lot and wearing it non-stop! I like to line my lips first with the 'Maybelline Color Sensational 132 Sweet Pink' lip liner.

I will definitely be purchasing some more Sleek Matte Me Lipsticks!

The Ultimate Makeup Remover

Estee Lauder Take It Away Makeup Remover

My go-to makeup remover has to be hands down the Garner Miceller Cleansing water (see review here). However, recently I have been reaching for the Estée Lauder Take It Away makeup remover. I’ve been really enjoying using a cream product to take off my makeup and I love how this one leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth.

I bought this product from Boots a few weeks ago for £22 and since, I've been using it nearly every day. I apply it onto my face when it is dry and it quickly breaks down all of my makeup-even my mascara! I then wash my face and I usually will use a cotton pad afterwards to just wipe around my eyes to make sure I have removed all of my eye-makeup.

The remover is white and has a lotion-like consistency. It removes all of my makeup really easily and gently. It is perfect for me, as I have sensitive skin. This leaves my skin feeling really soft, like I have already applied moisturiser, which I love as most makeup removers leave my skin feeling dry.

I bought the full size 200ml bottle which isn't really very handy for travelling I must admit, but overall, this has definitely become one of my skincare staples!

What's your go-to makeup-remover?

Thanks for reading.

Battle Of The Mascaras

Maybelline Lash Sensational and Lash Sensational Luscious
One of my holy-grail mascaras has to be the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara. So when I saw the Lash Sensational Luscious mascara in Superdrug the other week, I had to pick it up and give it a go! The Luscious mascara contains an oil blend which nourishes the lashes and promises the same full fan effect as the original Lash Sensational.
Firstly, in terms of packaging, I personally much prefer the new Luscious mascara with it having a matte black finish and rose gold detailing!
Maybelline Lash Sensational vs. Lash Sensational Luscious
The Luscious mascara has a long, straight plastic wand that comes to a tapered point, whereas the original mascara has a long, curved plastic wand. Personally, I prefer the original mascara’s brush as I find that it is better for curling my lashes and creating a nice, separated effect.
In terms of the formula of the two mascaras, I would say they are both an inky black colour and they both dry very quickly. The Luscious mascara applies quite thick and heavy on the lashes, which makes it harder to apply a second coat without it looking clumpy. I would also say that the Luscious mascara is harder to take off than the original Lash Sensational mascara. The Luscious mascara provides a lot more volume and length to the lashes, yet the lashes appear less curled than the original mascara, in comparison.
Overall, I think my favourite is still the original Lash Sensational mascara just because it is a lot easier to apply, with it not clumping up as easily as the new version. I much prefer the brush of the original Lash Sensational. However, the Luscious mascara gives a lot more volume and length the lashes, so I have been enjoying layering the two. I start with the Luscious mascara for the initial volume and length, and then finish off with the original one to separate my lashes. I find that the two in combination work best!
I hope that you found this post useful! Let me know your favourite mascara in the comments.
