The Perfect Base

Base products
Hi everyone!

Today I thought I would share with you my favourite 'base' makeup products that I have been using to achieve the "perfect" base for my makeup!

Firstly, I start off by using the M.A.C Prep + Prime Fix + spray to refresh and hydrate my face, and prepare it for makeup application. This really soothes my skin and creates a dewy base, for the rest of the makeup to stick to.

Secondly, I then prime my face with the Benefit POREfessional primer. This stuff is amazing at smoothing out and minimising pores and making my face feel super smooth and ready for makeup! I love the silicone formula that this product has it glides onto my face making it feel smooth and silky!

The foundation that I have been loving wearing for a good few months now is the L'OrĂ©al Infallible Matte Foundation. I love using this especially during winter as it keeps my foundation on all day due to the matte finish and has great coverage. I also love that this foundation isn't cakey at all and doesn't make my skin looks flat, despite it being a matte foundation. This blends so easily and creates a lovely, even base.
I have this in the shade 11 Vanilla.

To conceal my pesky under-eye circles, I am obsessed with using the Maybelline Eraser Eye concealer in Light. This works miracles at covering up my dark circles and making me look far more awake than I probably actually am. I find that this just glides underneath my under eyes as it has a creamy texture. I find that this doesn't crease under my eyes at all, but I do like to set it with a powder for extra coverage and to lock it in place!

To finish off, after I have applied all of my makeup, I will always spray some more M.A.C Fix + all over my face to set everything in place and make my skin look more alive and dewy.
I love using all of these products to create a lovely, even base for the rest of my makeup to go on.

New Makeup Haul: Soap & Glory

Soap & Glory Haul
 Hi everyone!

The other day I popped into my local Boots store to simply get some makeup wipes and as you can expect from a makeup-lover, that suddenly turned into lugging a basket full of makeup to the tills! I bought quite a lot of Soap & Glory products so I thought that I would share with you what I picked up and my reviews on the products so far.

Archery 2 in 1 Brow Filling Pencil and Brush (£8)
Soap & Glory Archery 2 in 1 Brow Filling Pencil and Brush
I have been after the Soap & Glory brow archery pencil for quite some time now, but it either is always sold out, not in my colour, or simply there isn't a Soap & Glory counter in the Boots that I am in! Luckily, there was a counter, there was the brow archery and it was in my colour: Dark Chocolate!
This contains a retractable pencil and a spoolie brush. I love having a brush on the end on this pencil for convenience, as it means that when I'm travelling, I don't need to pack a spoolie AND an eyebrow pencil, I can just pack this sleek product. I love using a brush when filling in my eyebrows, firstly to initially shape and comb my eyebrows, and then finishing off my combing through my brows again to fully disperse the product and make my eyebrows appear more natural and 'fluffed-up'! The pencil is very fine so it gives me great control and helps me to achieve precise, yet light feathery strokes, which makes my eyebrows appear really natural and somewhat untouched.

Supercat Carbon Black Extreme Eyeliner Pen (£6)
Soap & Glory Supercat Carbon Black Extreme Eyeliner Pen

I wear eyeliner pretty much everyday when I'm wearing makeup. I just find that it makes my eyes stand out more, which makes me feel more confident and put together. I usually use liquid eyeliner, and I've never actually used a pen-type eyeliner before, but the packaging of this really caught my eye so I thought I would give it a go!
I am in love with this! It is so easy to use and apply! I actually find it easier than some liquid eyeliners because it draws a more precise, sharp line. I would say that this is a dramatic eyeliner due to the thick edge, so I think that I will use it more in the evenings, rather than for everyday use. I am so glad that I bit the bullet and tried this out! I love how this simply glides across and doesn't smudge throughout the day, and I love that this is an intense, dark black shade.

Happy Pamper Gift Set £5
Soap & Glory Happy Pamper gift set

This gift set contains a 'creamy moisture' shower gel, and the infamous 'Righteous Butter' body butter! I picked this up as a present for my 'Secret Santa' at work as the spending limit was £5, so I thought that this was a perfect, quality present, that I myself would have liked to receive! Hopefully, she will like this, as I think you can't go wrong with a pamper gift set!

As I spent over £15 on selected Soap & Glory cosmetics, I received a free gift worth over £23, the Beauty Full House!

Soap & Glory
I was over the moon to have received this as I love every single product inside it and can't believe I got a full sized mascara, highlighter and a lip-gloss all for free! For those of you who read my blog often, you will know that they couldn't of chosen a better lip-gloss shade to put inside this set for me!! This is what it contains:

Thick and Fast HD Collagen Coat Mascara
(worth £10.50)
Soap & Glory Thick and Fast HD Collagen Coat Mascara
I had never heard of this mascara before but I am so impressed with this! Firstly,  I love the unique, gold packaging
This mascara appears to be very fancy with its scientific jargon. The idea is that the V groove of the brush adds volume to your lashes and then you are supposed to roll the brush from the roots of your lashes to the tips, to curl and lengthen them. This is such a great mascara as it honestly works! It makes my lashes appear very striking and long, like I am wearing falsies, without making them look too thick or clumpy #spiders! This also claims to feature strength- building collagen, which sounds very intriguing and promising! However, I don't like wearing this mascara if I am in a rush, because the unique brush takes some practice and currently if I am in a hurry, it all ends up on my eyelids and god knows where else!

Glow All Out Highlight and Sculpt Cheek Stick
(worth £8)

Soap & Glory Glow All Out Highlight and Scuplt Cheek Stick
I was so excited to try this out when i saw that it came in the free set! I'd never tried a cream stick highlighter before, I'd only ever tried powder highlighters. The first thing that i noticed was how utterly gorgeous this highlighter looked and the beautiful shade of it (Ice Shimmer).
To try this out, I first popped it onto my cheek bones and instantly noticed the pop of highlight!
This champagne highlighter gives a instant glow with a sheer, luminous finish. I love how this blends and sinks into my skin, creating a natural, yet dewy look.
This has quickly become one of my favourite highlighters, especially when paired underneath my M.A.C mineralise skin finish in Soft and Gentle (review here)

Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in Plumble
(worth £9)
Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in Plumble
I instantly wanted this set when I saw the shade of the lip-gloss inside it! It simply screams me.
The shade is called 'Plumble' but it says on the box that it is a limited edition shade, so I am not sure if it can be bought on it's own, but there are plenty of other shades in the 'Sexy Mother Pucker' range, that look just as gorgeous! This appears a lot lighter on the lips than it looks in the packaging, and also is a little bit sticky, which I personally don't like.
As this is a 'Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss', it tingles your lips at first as it contains lip plumping technology! It takes a bit to get used to this sensation, but it soon goes away, either that or you just get used to it!

5 Autumn Lips

Autumn Lip Picks

As I'm sure you are all aware by now, I love red toned lipsticks. I just love lipsticks in general to be perfectly honest with you, but at this time of year I love being able to wear a striking, dark lip. Today, I thought that I would share with you 5 lip choices that I have been loving to wear this Autumn.
(Disclaimer: Apologies in advance for the similar undertones...)

M.A.C Velvet Teddy
M.A.C Velvet Teddy

I couldn't do a Autumn lip picks post without featuring the iconic Velvet Teddy. This is a matte brown-toned nude. I actually find this lipstick to be one of the most moisturising matte lipsticks that I have tried, yet I always do but some lip balm on before applying any lipstick.
I have been wearing this non-stop recently, and it's definitely becoming one of my all-time-favourite lipsticks!

No7 Moisture Drench in 75 Sugar Plum

No7 Moisture Drench in 75 Sugar Plum

I have had this lipstick for years and every Autumn, I always come back to it! I absolutely love this lipstick for this time of year as it's so comfortable to wear due to its creamy, moisturising consistency, yet it adds an instant pop of colour to my lips. This shade is a red-toned brown. Despite this lipstick being very moisturising, it actually stays on my lips all day long and I don't find myself having to reapply it at all! I also find this lipstick to be very pigmented.

Topshop Lips in Inhibition
Topshop Lips in Inhibition

Every time I have worn this lipstick this Autumn, without fail somebody has commented on how lovely the colour is and how much it suits me! I love wearing this lipstick as I automatically feel very autumnal and put together.
The lipstick is a striking dark berry shade, which appears quite like a purple shade on the lips. It applies very easily and smoothly with a matte finish. This colour is extremely pigmented, so I have to use a lip liner (Topshop lip liner in 'Deception') with this, to avoid it leaking and somewhat staining around my lips!
I have also featured this in my Top 5 Drugstore Lipsticks post (read here)

 No7 Moisture Drench in Mulberry
No7 Moisture Drench in Mulberry

This is my ‘go-to’, easy to wear lipstick for this time of year. This goes with most makeup looks and sits on my lips really nicely, due to the moisturising formula. This lipstick gives a satin finish to the lips whilst also having SPF 15, which is an added bonus! Like the other No7 Moisture Drench lipstick featured, this lipstick stays on my lips all day.

NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in Exotic

I love wearing this liquid lipstick for a night out, or days when I want my lipstick to stay on all day. This isn't drying at all yet it stays on my lips really nicely, without creasing. This shade Exotic is a warm, mahogany red.

Top 5 Beauty Essentials for Autumn

Hi everyone,
I am so excited that it's now Autumn! Autumn is definitely my favourite season. Bring on the candles; blankets; dark lips; fairy lights and pumpkin spiced lattes!
However, as the colder weather creeps in, this can wreck havoc with your skin.
Here's a few of my beauty essentials for this Autumn!

Lipstick: MAC Velvet Teddy
MAC Velvet TeddyMAC Velvet Teddy Swatch

I look forward to the Autumn/Winter months just so that I can wear a dark lipstick. My current go-to is the well-loved 'Velvet Teddy' by MAC. It's a matte brown-toned nude, that I have just been wearing non-stop recently.
Deep Conditioner: Argan Oil Hydrating Hair Mask
Argan Oil Hydrating Hair Mask

I love using this about once a week to fully condition and treat my hair. I find the cold weather really dries out my hair, so I find this helps to put lots of moisture back into it.
I also find the ritual of doing this really relaxing, so it's perfect for a bit of pampering on a cold, autumn evening.
Body Lotion: Zoella Beauty Creamy Madly Dreamy
Zoella Beauty Creamy Madly Dreamy

Moisturiser has to be my #1 essential for Autumn/Winter as my skin becomes so dry due to the cold weather. I love using a thick body lotion in Autumn to provide a dollop (lovely choice of wording, I know) of instant moisture to my skin. I have been loving using this one in particular lately as it feels very luxurious! It contains Vitamin E, Aloe and Shea Butter, so it leaves my skin feeling smooth and silky.
Bronzer: Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess
Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess

Bronzer is a staple in my makeup routine in the Autumn, to try and help keep that summer glow just that little bit longer. I find that this bronzer is perfect as it is really buildable and looks very natural, yet adds a hint of colour to my face. I also love how this comes with a pretty large mirror as well!
Lip Balm: Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Lip Protectant
Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Lip Protectant
I love this lip balm in particular as it really soothes and lasts a really long time on my lips, unlike other lip balms that just seem to disappear after 30 seconds or so. This small pot is really convenient just to throw in my handbag to use on-the-go to avoid those pesky dry, chapped lips that just scream Autumn/Winter. Of course you could just opt for good ol' Vaseline instead of this example!

What are your Autumn essentials?

The Perfect Saturday

Cocoa Cabana

Hi everyone!
Last weekend I went back home for the first time since coming back to University in September. I had such a lovely weekend and so I thought that I would share with you what I got up to on the Saturday. My mum, sisters and I had a girly day, as my dad was in work, so we went into Manchester city centre to start our Christmas shopping!
Then, we booked ourselves into a cute little chocolatier tea room called 'Cocoa Cabana' for Afternoon Tea!

New Additions: M.A.C

Hi everyone!

For my 20th birthday, I was lucky enough to receive a M.A.C Cosmetics gift card, so as you can imagine I was thrilled! I went to the M.A.C store in Liverpool and the staff there were extremely helpful and even tested some of the products on me beforehand, which meant my makeup loved fab on my birthday!!
So today, I thought I would share with you what I bought.

M.A.C Mineralize Skin Finish- Soft & Gentle

I fell in love with this highlighter as soon as I saw it!
I'd heard a lot of good reviews about this highlighter in particular and loved how it looked on my skin when the staff applied it for me. It noticed straight away how amazing this pigmentation of this product is and how is made my skin look so healthy and luminous. This also lasted on my skin throughout the whole day and my family continued to comment on how lovely it looked.
Since purchasing this product, I have been reaching for it a lot as it glides onto my skin without removing any of my foundation and I love how long-lasting this is! I use a duo-fibre fan brush to apply this onto my cheekbones, cupids bow and down the centre of my nose, and then I use a smaller, more dense brush to apply this lightly on my brow bone and in the inner corner of my eye. This was £24 for 10g but you only need a small amount so hopefully this should last me a long time!

M.A.C Prep + Prime Fix+

I bought my second bottle of this as I literally use it all the time! On the M.A.C website this is described as "A lightweight mist of water packed with vitamins and minerals, infused with a blend of green tea, chamomile and cucumber to gently soothe and refresh the skin". This definitely soothes and refreshes and also hydrates my skin, making it the perfect primer water for makeup. This is such a versatile, multi-use product. I use it to set my makeup after I have applied it and I also spray this onto my highlighter and eyeshadow brushes as it helps to intensify the colour pay-off. I love how
This was £17.50 and to me, its worth every penny!

Lipsticks:
 Velvet Teddy and Brave

Velvet Teddy (left) and Brave (right)

Velvet Teddy (top) and Brave (bottom)
I have wanted 'Velvet Teddy' for what seems like a lifetime, yet every time I think to treat myself to it, it's always out of stock! However all is well in the world as I finally now own it, and trust me, it was worth the wait! Velvet Teddy is a matte brown-toned nude, which makes it really wearable and perfect for Autumn!
Brave was another M.A.C lipstick that's been on my radar for quite some time now. It's less hyped than Velvet Teddy but it's more wearable in my opinion. It's subtle enough for everyday wear but it also can be built up darker to wear on a night out. This lipstick has a satin finish so again it's more wearable than Velvet Teddy as it feels weightless and more comfortable on the lips. I'm THE worst at describing colours, as many of you probably know that by now, but I would say Brave is a deep, dusty pink nude.

The UD Naked 1 Dupe

W7 Lightly Toasted Eyeshadow Palette Review

For what feels like the longest time, I have wanted the Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette, but I just can't bring myself to justify it, seeing as I am student. So when I saw the 'W7 Lightly Toasted' eyeshadow palette, which is known to be a dupe for the Naked 1 palette, I knew I had to get it! I got this from 'Urban Beauty Stores' in Warrington, England, but this is also available on Amazon and other various online stores for around £5/£6. I already own the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, but the Naked 1 just looks a lot easier to wear on a more everyday basis.
W7: Lightly Toasted Eyeshadow Palette
This palette contains 12 eyeshadows which are largely neutral colours. It contains a mix of shimmer and matte shades, which makes this palette really versatile. Some of the colours can be quite dusty and can cause a lot of fallout, so I usually will apply my eyeshadow with this palette, before doing my foundation.

I love that all the colours are named: Teddy Bear, Wonderland, Cracker, Happy, Lady Luck, Twister, Di Di, Delilah, Magic, It’s a Dream, Up in Smoke and Dawn.

Packaging:

A chocolate brown coloured tin with cream, raised lettering. On the reverse side is the names of the shadows and also the ingredients. It contains 12 eyeshadows and a brush. The packaging feels sturdy but not heavy. Ideally, I would of liked this palette to come with a mirror but considering how cheap this is, I cant complain.

W7: Lightly Toasted Eyeshadow Palette

Here's a photo of the Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette taken from their website, to show you a comparison between both palettes:
